Reading an old KH fic I remember enjoying a decade ago (as you do), and it... certainly hasn't aged well. But I'm getting so much entertainment out of it because the author wanted to give the characters surnames and just stuck them with the names of their English voice actors. Riku Gallagher. Lexaeus Boat. Roxas McCartney. Axel and Kairi are also twins in this universe, so "Axel Panetteire" is a thing that exists. I don't why I've been giggling over "Vexen Stephen Prince" for the past ten minutes, but if anyone in the KH universe would have an ill-fitting middle name, it would be him.

(I feel you on the old KH fic thing, also. I've been wavering on whether or not I should try to reread one of my old, old favorites for the fandom - it was a high school AU where Demyx had to go to high school in another universe because his home planet had been overrun by zombies, which in hindsight A) amazing, B) ???????).

Oh, my goodness, this sounds absolutely delightful. 'Lexaeus Boat' is the best thing I've read in years.

The late 2000s was a special time for the fandom. I've only read one or two fics that still hold up for me, but none are half as funny as this hot mess of a story.

I remember enjoying this fic back in the day because it was one of the few that remembered Lexaeus existed, but I was not prepared for that. It has a serious scene where someone calls him "Mr. Boat," and I'm just sitting here holding back laughter.

(Also, I totally want to read that. It sounds amazing for all the wrong reasons.)

I cracked a smile at the first mentions of Sora Joel Osment and Axel Panetteire, but I was not prepared for Mr. Boat. No one even bothers to comment on his name when it comes up. It's so surreal.
